How Funds Are Used 

     The Komen Siouxland Affiliate joins Susan G. Komen for the Cure in its fight against breast cancer. The Komen Siouxland Affiliate generates donations through fundraising events held in the Siouxland area. In Kind donations are also accepted and appreciated at any time during the year.

     Part of every Komen Affiliate’s structure includes having a Grant Committee. Up to 75 percent of all money raised by the Komen Siouxland Affiliate must go toward funding yearly local grants and education programs. Each year, applications will be accepted from organizations in the Siouxland area for funding for programs that focus on breast cancer education, treatment or screening programs. More specifically, the grants awarded by the Siouxland Affiliate will be for programs that address the gaps or unmet needs in the counties we serve. The Grant Committee will review the applications and make recommendations to the Board for acceptance. 

     The other 25 percent of the funds raised is submitted to the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program, which supports innovative breast cancer research and educational programs around the world.
